I’m looking to buy a new LCD tv between 40-46 inches that does not require an HD signal. I am having a hard time finding TVs that fit this requirement. It would be great if I could have a few suggestions.

It’s curious that you’re having a hard time finding a TV that fits your requirement because every TV sold since Day One in the 1930s works without an HD signal. Yes, that includes all modern LCDs advertised as HD sets.
You’re really not going to find a 40-46 inch LCD with a standard-def only display. Perhaps if you would further explain exactly what you’re after and why, someone will come up with a better answer for you.

All tv in the market today will accept any signal you feed it, they don’t require HD source to operate. The top 2 manufacture in tvs are Panasonic and Samsung, they have the less problem and have better customer relation service support center. Also view the tv from an angle and see if you loose any picture quality, Panasonic and Samsung does not and Plasma has the best viewing angle of all tvs beside having the best picture quality of all tvs in the market today. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs along with the pro and con of Plasma and LCD/LED tvs. If you read yahoo questions 95% of tv problems comes from LCD/LED and 95% of those are off brands. You get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.
