Any Successful Long Distance Relationships Stories During College?
I resently started seeing this guy (who was my friend for about 10 yrs) at the beginning of summer. However as summer ended I had to start my freshman year in college about a 1 1/2 hout plane ride away. Thankfully I get to come home and see him twice or at least once a month. Not toooo bad.
However, I feel like the long distance actually kind of helped us since it showed us how much we really care about and appreciate each other. We even seemed to get closer during these past 3 months while I was away.
So I was really hoping that some of you could tell me about any successful long distance relationships that you’ve gone through or seen. It’s just starting to really bring me down knowing that Im going to have to wait 4 yrs until I officially move back (or 2 yrs depending on if Im able to transfer to an even better University close by.)
Thanks to anyone who posts and please try putting up positive stories and advice… not something that’s going to crush my hopes lol

If you’ve known him for 10 years, I’d say you’ve got a pretty good background. Twice a month is really good, once a month isn’t too bad either. I started going out with my girlfriend in my 4th year (she was first year) and after I left, we only saw each other about once every 4-6 weeks for a weekend at a time. By the way, we got married a year before we could be together permanently. As (bad) luck would have it, we’re now long distance again.
Four years is long, but if you’ve got a great relationship going, it’s not that long. And anyway, it will be 2 years, because you’ve got a motivation to work as hard as possible to enable that transfer. When you’re not together, work as hard as you possibly can to get the best possible marks. Not only will it keep you occupied (worked for my wife), it will give you a better chance for that transfer.
The keys to a good long distance relationship (any relationship for that matter) are communication, commitment and trust. Ensure that all three are in harmony, and you’re set.
