Do You Think Turkey Will Qualify For The World Cup In 2010 (please Answer)?
The group Turkey is in comprises of Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia and Estonia.
Spain has 21 points (They are gauranteed) to be in the World Cup.)
In second place is Bosnia and Herzegovina with 15 points.
Turkey is in third place and has 11 points.
Armenia and Estonia are already knocked out, and there is no way Belgium will qualify with their 7 points.
On October 11, 2008 Turkey beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in ISTANBUL. Home field advantage (2-1).
Turkey also lost to Spain twice, one in Spain and once in Turkey.
Bosnia and Herzegovina also lost to Spain in a match that took place in Spain.
On September 9, 2009 Turkey will play Bosnia and Herzegovina in BOSNIA. If Turkey wins that match, none of the other teams they play will beat them (hopefully, they play Belgium with is KIND OF tough.. and they play Armenia which should be easy.) Turkey has to win this match with Bosnia and Herzegovina to have a chance to qualify in the World Cup, but this isn’t the only problem.
After this game if Turkey beats Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnia and Herzegovina will play Estonia, which they will surely beat.
Here is where it gets tough for Turkey. On October 14 Bosnia and Herzegovina will play Spain in their home country (Spain already beat Bosnia and Herzegovina once in SPAIN). Spain is obviously the better country in the sport, but there is a big problem! Spain already qualifies for the World Cup, so they won’t give full effort while playing Bosnia and Herzegovina IN Bosnia.
If Bosnia and Herzegovina beats Spain even after they lose to Turkey, they will still qualify.
So do you think Turkey will be skillful and lucky enough to qualify for the World Cup 2010? I would love to see Turkey play like they did in the Euro Cup last year.

i don’t think they’re be able to qualify this time… and i already don’t like Turkey, so id rather have Bosnia in the WC than Turkey. :]
1 step at the time. Both Bosnia and Turkey won yesterday, so Bosnia still leads by 4 points.
Whatever hopes the Turks have of qualifying, they must defeat Bosnia on Wednesday. A draw or worse, a loss, would almost certainly mean their run is over.
Spain may have qualified but will still be tough opponents, as their reserves may want to show Del Bosque their potential. Also the away tie to Estonia won’t be easy, as Bosnia will be under pressure to win, especially if Turkey had beaten them on Wednesday.
Belgium away, is the danger. In their final home game, no team wants to play poorly and lose easily. Expect a fight, although the Turks are the better side. Armenia at home should not be too difficult.
Finally, you are mistaken on 1 issue. Unlike previous qualifiers, ‘head to head results’ are not so important. Here overall goal difference counts first, followed by overall goals scored. Bosnia has a very healthy lead in goal difference compared to Turkey.
Although I sympathise with your plight, I cannot see Turkey making it to the play-offs, given the current circumstances they are in. Moreover as you are aware, Turkey are usually ‘poor favourites’ but ‘good under-dogs’. When they are favoured, they tend to stumble like they did against Latvia and Switzerland. When they are written off, they can perform like they did against Czech Rep and Croatia.
Therefore it is very hard to see them garnering 9 points from their final 3 games, and even if they did, they must hope Bosnia don’t get 6. If they draw with Bosnia and garner 7 points, it surely won’t be enough, because Bosnia will only need 3 more points to qualify on goal difference.
