How Are You Running Av/hdmi Cables Behind Dry Wall From Your Flat Panel Tv To Your Receiver, Dvd Player, Etc?
Do you just create an opening in the dry wall enough to put the cables through and send them through and out from below? I have to run HD av cables from the tv to receiver and an hdmi cable from the tv to the dvd player behind the dry wall.
Or do you install some type of junction box put the the cables through?

I’m planning on mounting my LCD on the wall. Here’s what I am doing.
For the AV cables, I bought 2 3-gang bulk cable wall plates. I will buy 2 3-gang “old-work” boxes and cut out the backs. I will cut two holes in the wall (between the studs) and mount the old work boxes. The wall plates will cover the boxes.
Then, I’ll run all my AV cables from the low box up to the high box (which will be right behind the TV.
For power, I will be adding a receptacle behind the TV. I am planning on buying a Leviton Surge Suppressing receptacle for a little protection.
Please note that it is not “code” to run the electrical in the wall, even if you have a PVC conduit.

Yes cut a small hole and tie the HDMIs to each other and drag them through your drywall using a pole….. a junction box would be too expensive
Most installers just cut a 4×4 inch square hole at the top behind the TV and another square hole at the bottom behind the components….that’s all they do….
But I think the installers tell the customer to KEEP the pieces, because they make a special bracket to RE-install the cut out pieces if you move/change things….they are available at Lumber yards.
Watching anything related to “This Old House” is good……just saw it on “ASK This Old House”.
Walls contain STUDs you have use a worm drill
kinda like a toilet snake that drills
Another method is to cut behind the TV and at Floor level
drop all cables to Floor then remove baseboard hide cables
in wall behind the base board
Its no easy process there are people that do that for a living
they have all the tools and do a great job
