I use my 52″ LCD HDTV as a monitor: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/a…
My computer has a DVI output. It’s connected to the HDTV using a DVI-to-HDMI cable. (Yes, DVI is compatible with HDMI.)
I’m running a 1920×1080 resolution (aka 1080p High Definition), and as you can see in the photo, it looks fabulous.
So check your computer and see if it has either a DVI or HDMI output.
Hope this helps.
all you need to do is connect the monitor, make sure the video card in your computer has a DVI connector. DVI connectors are typically found on most HDTVs.
While you can get a converter for the VGA connector on an existing video card, you won’t get the same image quality if you spend a few dollars on a video card with DVI support.
Screen resolution is limited to the maximum resolution of the HDTV, which is typcially 1920×1080. If the only thing you want to do is use an HDTV as a computer monitor, this is the only step required.
If you have a VGA cable long enough then connect it to both the computer and the back of the TV and switch the video source to VGA-Component. If the video card in the computer has a HDMI connector then get a HDMI cable and do the same as listed above except change the video source to HDMI and there she has it.
The top answer only works if your TV has a VGA port. There are other solutions:
Buy a VGA (or DVI) to RCA converter cable-this will only work if your computer’s video card supports TV.
Buy a USB (or Firewire) to RCA converter cable-this should work on all computers.
Buy a VGA (or DVI or USB) to S-Video converter cable-this will only work if your TV has an S-Video port (almost all TVs do).
Though like the top answer HDMI will work the best (so try buying a VGA (or a DVI or USB) to HDMI.
There you go.

Note: The USB port on your TV is for the updating of it’s firmware (operating system).

Or you can also use an RGB cable. Works just as good.
But i would recommend HDMI if you have it.
