How To Maintain A Long Distance Relationship?

My boyfriend is going back to Canada to continue his studies while I’ll be studying in HK for college. We talk about how to keep in contact and would visit each other during breaks. But I’ve been in a long distance relationship before and it didn’t work out as everything becomes “routine-like” after a few months. How do I prevent that from happening ?

I would break it off before he leaves. Unless you’ve been together umpteen hundred years and know each other inside and out, then it just won’t work. As time passes, you will grow further and further apart. Even the most trustworthy guys tend to start thinking of other girls, or maybe even innocently flirting with them when they haven’t seen their significant other for a long time. I’m not saying they would do anything, but the thinking can damage the relationship as well. It lowers the level of commitment. You will also start to get really insecure, because you’ll notice guys too which will make you realize that he is probably noticing other girls, and blah blah blah. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that ending it now will be better in the long run.
You can still stay in contact as friends, but at least then you don’t have the burden of a practically non-existent relationship. Maybe, if you remain friends and return to the same location, you’ll even get back together in the future. Distance can be a major relationship ruiner so call off the relationship.

if you keep the faith you will never worry about it becoming routine… a good idea is to discuss what you did for the day.. who you met.. discuss studies.. there are a number of ways to keep the spark in a long distance relationship. your distance is relatively short compared to others. if it is worth keeping it alive you will find new ways to make it happen

wow it would be pretty hard and rare to keep it going, but the most you can do at this point, is talk alot on the phone and visit as much as possible and write alot of letters and just try it out! i wish the best of luck for you though! :D
