We currently have a 35″ CRT television. We’re going to upgrade but there are so many choices I don’t know which to select. Looking for advice.

Samsung and sony are made with the same materials. They have a partnership so do not listen to that guy. I love the samsung 6 series and up 1080p tvs. You get such beautiful pictures especially with a blue ray. The blue ray even upconverts the picture so well that regular dvds looked almost like hd dvds. There aren’t many differences between the 6 series and the 7 or 8 series. They also have the 120mhz motion plus ability on these tvs for better pictures with less blur during motion. Super tvs you will not be disappointed.

The things that should look when buying hdtv.
    – Resolution; the difference between 720p and 1080i is so minimal that is isn’t an issue at all. While 1080p is better than 720p and 1080i.
For 52O or bigger I would recommend 1080p
    – Dynamic contrast ratio; higher contrast ratio will give you better picture
    – Response time; less response time value will give you better response
    – If you want for sports, action movies 120Hz or new 240Hz are great
The top brand in market that I would recommend is Samsung or Sony for LCD tv.http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…
or if you want plasma I would recommend Panasonic.http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i…

Thing to consider when looking for a new TV.
    1.Refresh Rate
    2. Current QAM tuner
    3. Room Size for proper viewing of the TV and angle
    4. What are you watching on it the most: Standard TV, HD Channels, Blu-Ray, Standard DVD, Gaming stations
    5. Amount of connections from your old equipment to equal the inputs on TV
    6. Budget: Samsung is a great TV for price/value, Phillips has some great deals as well.
    7. Sound Quality: TV speakers or Surround system
