Long Distance Relationship…would You Do It?
We’re both 23 and met through a reputable dating service. We talk 3-4 hours a day on the phone and have for 2 months. He is visiting me in a couple weeks and if all goes well with that (and I can’t see why not) would you continue a long distance relationship if you were me? I’m about to graduate college in May and don’t know where I’m moving but it’s not here! I live in Missouri and he lives in Texas…what do you all think?
I did this and wouldn’t do it again. In two relationships now we’ve lived far enough apart we talked on the phone more than in person. We got along better on the phone! And we eventually broke up.
It IS different being in person, and that’s what you want to check out.
When it comes down to it, its about what you want. For me it wouldn’t work. I need to have that closeness and know that I can run into his arms any time I have a problem. Although phone conversations gives you the chance to catch up everyday, it’s just not the same as seeing him everyday. If your just about to graduate college I think you have a lot to look forward to in your life. There are plenty of men out there. I’m sure he makes you smile and says adorable things that make you fall for him (which is why your still with him) but I think physical chemistry has a lot of effect on a relationship. I hope everything works out for you.
I am doing a LDR right now..for one year straight actually.All is well..but it is hard..especially when you want to hug the person or be close to them on a chilly night..to just hang and watch tv on the couch like normal people do.But its all we have for now and we care for each other.I always tell him..i rather be far away from you,then not with you at all.If it feels right and your relationship blossoms into something special..do what you have to to keep it going.Its only for the strong willed though.Good luck
There are pros and cons. Do what you need to do. You will just know if it is or isn’t working for you. Trust in yourself, be confident and stay true to your vision of your life.
No never, letters and talking on the phone just wouldn’t be enough for me
