Who Should Host Future Tournaments?
Euro 2016
France? Italy? Turkey? Norway/Sweden?
World 2018
Australia? England? Indonesia? Japan? Mexico? Russia? USA?Belgium/Holland? Portugal/Spain?
Other countries wont be hosting any of these tournaments, as the ones listed above are the nations that bidded to be hosts (/joint hosts) before the deadline.
Incase you didn’t already know, Poland and Ukraine will host Euro 2012 and Brazil will host the 2014 World Cup.
OQ: Why haven’t Yahoo changed the name of this section to FIFA 2010 World Cup and do you think that they’ll ever get around to doing it?
World Cup 86 Venue Question.?
Thought I would give oor wee gang first go at this question.
There are rumours that Fifa has secretly drawn up a list of 3 countries( Injcludes them by the way) who could takeover the 2010 World Cup from South Africa if the general violence doesn`t improve and the stadiums fall further behind in construction. This got me thinking about World Cup 86.
Originally to have gone to a South American country, I believe Columbia or Bolivia but can`t remember which. I think Brazil then stepped in as hosts but then gave it up. Finally Mexico took over as hosts and we got to see WGS try to vault that advertising board. Can anyone copnfirm the exact events. as they unfolded?
Question Regarding Fifa World Cup Hosting/winning & Automatic Qualification ?
I want to know what would happen, or be the arrangement say, if a nation wins a world cup but is also going to be hosting it in the following 4 years ?
since if a nation wins the tournament, it dioesnt need to go thru qualifying for the next one since they are officialy ‘holders’ of the trophy.
i.e , what would happen if Brazil win the 2010 world cup , since they’ll be hosting the tournament 5 years from now in 2014 ??
has it happened before ? the hosts were holders of the trophy ?
then is there an arrangment for another team , i.e losing finalists of the previous world cup who get auto qualification ?
