Not yet. They have two rounds left to go. They play two legs against the second best Oceanian nation. If New Zealand wins that, then they will play two legs against an Asian team. The winner of that playoff goes to the World Cup.
However, with New Zealand being the Oceanian group winner, the have qualified to the Confederations Cup.

New Zealand soccer seems to be on the up and up these days. We have a professional football team the Wellington Phoenix in the tough A-League competition (haha Auckland), Ryan Nelson when fit is one of the best defenders and captains in the Premiership. Saimon Elliott and Chris Killen also play top level soccer in Europe. Even the local National League is on the improve with some players coming over from the Asian leagues and the USA’s MLS to boost experience for our national league players. Ricki Herbert is a fantastic coach and although Manager of two teams can devote enough time and energy to the All Whites. We (provided we win Oceania) are scheduled to play the fifth placed Asian team which should be less intimidating and perhaps a little easier than the fifth placed South American team. I think we will win Oceania and provided we stay fit and play well at home (Wgtn?) we could be booking flights to SA for 2010. Am I too optomisitc and do you think this is our best chance since 82?
