Can I do this all with a flat panel monitor or would I be better looking into a (relatively) inexepensive TV? I’ll have Verizon FIOS installed this week (tv and internet) and would like something that can do it all and hang on the wall… any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

How Do You Mount A Flat Screen Tv To A Brick Fire Place?

DON’T DO IT. especially if it is a working fireplace. check your warranty, it will probably be voided. TV is heat sensitive. This is especially true of Plasma, they run pretty hot to start with and many have cooling fans if the air being pulled thru is heated air then your only heating it more. LCD will also be affected but not to
the extent of the plasma, but it’s still in danger.
This all being said, if this is a non working fireplace, then it isn’t too tough, you will need a masonry bit and drill. layout holes to match your mounting bracket, and attach the bracket to the brick using expansion anchors or masonry screws.
Lots of people have asked this question, I know it’s the “Perfect Place” cause then you have the crackling fire, romantic chic flick, and good wine —- man what a setup. And after all you only spent a few thousand on the TV.

Why Does My New Flat Screen Tv Keep Freezing And The Pixels Go All Over The Place?

You have POOR antenna signal….that’s why it Freezes and Pixellates…
IF you’re using an indoor antenna, the best way to ADJUST your antenna is to go to your ANALOG Channel (numbers like 6, 12, 44 etc) instead of your DIGITAL Channels (6-1, 12-3, 44-2) and tune the antenna so there is little to NO SNOW on the Channel…..
Then you can switch back to your Digital TV stations for noise-free digital…..
It’s easier to see how good/bad your signal is with the analog stations….
Now, if your ANALOG channels are still pretty snowy, you may have to ADD a 20db RF amplifier to your antenna FIRST (Radio Shack carries them!) and see if that locks your stations in…..
If that still doesn’t help….then you have to get your Antenna UP and UP and MORE UP than where it presently is….
The higher you go the better the signal gets…..
That’s why people have OUTDOOR roof-mounted antennas…
But MOST have Cable or Satellite, and the reason is because they don’t have to do anything to the antenna at all, the Cable/Satellite guys maintain the equipment for you, figure the problem out for you and fix it FOR YOU….
Of course the Sat Guys charge a preset fee for any repairs….same as the Cable guys, but they’re maintained by a monthly surcharge….
You pay one way or another….
Anyways, get your Sat or Cable guy out if you have those services….

Is It Safe To Place A Lcd Flat Screen Tv On A Wall Above A Fireplace?

Many people do this. Is this a fireplace that you use? Does the fireplace have a mantle? All fireplaces at one time or another have back draft. Do you want smoke and heat all over your very expensive TV? The most common mistake people make when hanging a TV on the wall is placing it too high. The TV should be placed so that the center of the screen is at eye level when seated. Placing a TV above a fireplace mantle will make it way too high. Is this a masonary fireplace? Although mounting the TV to a masonary or brick surface is a relatively minor obstacle, how do you plan on hiding the wires? You will need to somehow get power, coax, DVD signal (RGB or HDMI), to the TV as well as audio from the TV to your sound system.
Safe? Probably.
Practical? Probably not.

Can I Use A Flat Screen Monitor In Place Of A Tv?

February 8, 2010 by

My TV is about to die, and I am thinking it might just be worth my while to replace my TV with a 20 inch flat monitor. Just making sure it can be done.
The way I am thinking, a TV in addition to the screen has a receiver to get the channels and an amplifier/speakers for sound.
But if i get my TV stations through a cable box, and amplify my sound thru an audio receiver, wouldn’t it make sense that all I really need is the screen (the built in receiver and amplifier in a TV is superflous). In addition, I have the Miglia eye TV, compatible with my macbook, so I can get TV stations on my MacBook (it is an analog to digital converter)
I think it is a neat idea, and flat panel monitors cost less than flat screen TVs, plus I could use it for more stuff on my computer.
But before I go out and buy a 20+ in monitor, just want to check that it can be done.
Also is there a way to stream video (all video, including TV and DVD) wirelessly from my laptop to the monitor?
