Go to a fireplace specialist in your area…..they should have a special kit to install for your TV set….
If not……make one.
Most will deflect heat away from the TV by extending the mantle to 8 or 10 inches
I had a buddy do that and they had to put a special insulation blanket behind it to reflect the heat back from the wall.
It will not be a good idea if you are going to install any heat insulator on ur tv. LCD Tv itself generates a lot of heat internally so if u are going to add more heat, ur tv will not last long. The fire below will make ur visual experience suffer, kind of annoying.
If its a gas fireplace take a temperature of the area with it on if it reaches over 90 degrees its not a good idea (check your manual for the specs on temperature ranges should be in there) the LCD/plasma company I work don’t recommend over 90 degrees for our TVs
If its wood…depends on how much smoke comes out smoke can harm the TV
it is not recommendable to place your television set near a fire place. you answered it already, it’s about the heat. second your tv will easily catch dust and smoke. and you possibly wouldn’t enjoy watching the entire movie because you’ll have some distraction because of the flame.
